Forest trail brings quiet relief

The Woowookarung Regional Park in Ballarat, Victoria, is slowly being transformed to include a dementia-friendly native sensory garden/sensory cue trail. The project team aims to create a safe space for people living with dementia, as well as creating a blueprint for how other communities could establish similar trails.

In the first of two videos, we share the planning and thought behind the trail, as well as people living with dementia, community members, and the project team talking about their shared vision for the future.

Dementia Australia thanks everyone who participated in the filming of this video. Dementia Australia plans to visit the project in mid-2019 for an update on progress. This project was a recipient of a Dementia Australia Dementia Friendly Community Community Engagement Grant.
