The ongoing development of the Tweed area as a dementia-friendly community is evident with the addition of the Tweed, Murwillumbah and Kingscliff branches of the Richmond Tweed Regional Library service being added to the National Dementia Friendly Community Hub.   At a Dementia Awareness Month event on Tuesday, 11 September at the Tweed branch, the service was presented with their documents of recognition by local Dementia Advocates Graeme and Wendy Hodgkinson and Pam Sligo also from the Tweed Dementia Action Group.

Following the presentation members of the community participated in a Dementia Friends session run by Dementia Australia’s Dementia Friend Project Officer for NSW, Judy Bartholomew.  The session was really well received with very positive feedback such as it was a ‘helpful, interactive session’ and ‘the videos were touching and heartfelt’.
