Dementia Friendly Tasmania Incorporated

Dementia Friendly Tasmania Incorporated (DFT) was established in early 2016 following more than two years of volunteer work conducted by a group based at Snug, a small town in the Kingborough region.

DFT is working towards building awareness and understanding of dementia in the community, and offering people techniques to engage and support the people they meet who may have dementia.

Led by President Alison Devries, DFT delivers information sessions to community members, businesses and organisations to help reduce fear and stigma around dementia, and to encourage members of the community to be inclusive of people living with the condition.

Fundraising conducted through the initiative has enabled the purchase of a trishaw, which will be loaned to care homes so that residents can enjoy being ridden around the grounds, through parks and alongside the beach.
