Kyneton District Health recently named a ‘Dementia Friendly Organisation’

Kyneton District Health was recently named a ‘Dementia Friendly Organisation’ and the lovely ladies at the Treehouse couldn’t be happier!

The status is awarded to organisations who demonstrate their staff are educated about dementia and treat people living with dementia with respect and empathy. As part of the application process, KDH submitted an action plan to Dementia Australia where we outlined our ongoing plans for environmental improvements and our promise to involve people living with dementia in decision making at the organisation.

The dementia friendly symbol is now on display throughout the hospital to show our community that we provide quality dementia care. The symbol includes the words ‘working towards’ to acknowledge that becoming dementia friendly is not a tick box exercise, rather it is an ongoing commitment to better meets the needs of our clients, patients and their families.

Congratulations to all our staff for their contribution in achieving the ‘Dementia Friendly Organisation’ status.
